What to expect
Use the quality setting for JPG and WebP, and choose a separate compression mode for PNG. Dimensions stay unchanged. Check the actual output size and preview before downloading. Already optimized images may not become smaller; in that case the original file remains available.
Limits apply to both input and output. Animated images are not supported. Files remain in memory only; reloads clear your work. Smaller batches help on mobile devices.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the image. Photos saved at high JPG quality often shrink by 50–80% at the Recommended level, and PNG screenshots usually shrink most with fewer colors. If no smaller file can be made, you get your original back.
Should I convert my images to WebP?
WebP is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar quality and keeps transparency. All modern browsers display it, but some older apps and upload forms still expect JPG or PNG, so keep the original format when in doubt.
Which compression level should I choose?
Recommended suits most web images. Choose Light for portfolios or print previews, and Strong for thumbnails where file size matters more than fine detail. Drag the comparison slider to check before downloading.
Does compression change the image dimensions?
No. The image is only re-encoded. If you also need fewer pixels, use the Image Resizer, which is often the biggest saving for large camera photos.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Image processing takes place in your browser. Files are not sent to Codia and are removed from this workspace when you refresh or leave. Website analytics, when permitted, never contain your images or file names.
Can I process multiple files?
Yes, up to 20 files per batch, within the displayed size limits. Each file is processed separately. Download successful results individually or as a ZIP; a failed file does not block the others.
Will quality and metadata stay the same?
Results depend on the operation and settings. Lossy compression changes pixels; JPG removes transparency. Exports target ordinary 8-bit web images and do not promise EXIF, HDR, original color profiles or 16-bit preservation. Always inspect the result.
