What to expect

Output is always WebP at the selected compression level. Dimensions stay the same and pixels are re-encoded, so start from the best-quality JPG you have. Safari users get the same result through a built-in WebP encoder.

Limits apply to both input and output. Animated images are not supported. Files remain in memory only; reloads clear your work. Smaller batches help on mobile devices.

Frequently asked questions

Is WebP better than JPG?

For the web, usually yes: WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar visual quality. JPG is still the safest choice for printing and older software.

Will converting to WebP reduce quality?

Converting re-encodes the image, so some detail can change. The Recommended level is visually close to the original for most photos; use the comparison slider to check.

Why is my WebP not smaller than the JPG?

JPGs that are already heavily compressed have little left to save. Try the Strong level, or keep the original file.

Can I convert many JPGs to WebP at once?

Yes. Add up to 20 photos and download all WebP files together as a ZIP.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Image processing takes place in your browser. Files are not sent to Codia and are removed from this workspace when you refresh or leave. Website analytics, when permitted, never contain your images or file names.

Can I process multiple files?

Yes, up to 20 files per batch, within the displayed size limits. Each file is processed separately. Download successful results individually or as a ZIP; a failed file does not block the others.

Will quality and metadata stay the same?

Results depend on the operation and settings. Lossy compression changes pixels; JPG removes transparency. Exports target ordinary 8-bit web images and do not promise EXIF, HDR, original color profiles or 16-bit preservation. Always inspect the result.
