Overview
Studio image editing actions appear when a supported image is selected on the canvas. They are grouped by editing intent: AI editing, size, cleanup, and conversion. Some actions update the selected image, while others create a new result beside it so you can compare versions.
AI Edit Actions
| Action | What it does | Use it when |
|---|
| AI Chat / Quick Generate | Generates a new canvas image from a prompt and optional references. | You need a new asset rather than an edit to the selected image. |
| Chat Edit | Edits the selected image from a prompt, optional mask, references, model, and settings. | You want a directed revision while preserving the source. |
| Visual Annotation Edit | Uses drawn marks and notes as edit instructions. | You need to identify exact regions that words may describe poorly. |
| Make Editable | Converts a selected source region into editable design elements. | You need to move, edit, or reuse individual parts of a flat image. |
| Edit Design Text | Detects visible text blocks and regenerates edited replacements. | You need to fix, translate, replace, or remove text in an image. |
| Magic Layers / Edit Element | Separates a flat image into structured layers. | You want object-level editing from a screenshot, poster, generated image, or product graphic. |
| Remix | Applies a new style while preserving the main subject. | You like the composition but need a different visual treatment. |
| Generate Variations | Creates 1 to 4 alternatives from the selected image. | You need options for the same subject or concept. |
| Multi-angle | Generates a new camera viewpoint with rotation, tilt, and zoom controls. | You need another angle of a product, object, or scene. |
Size Actions
| Action | What it does | Use it when |
|---|
| Expand | Reframes the image into a larger or different ratio using general, social, and marketplace presets. | You need space for copy, a new crop, or a channel-specific format. |
| Crop | Changes visible framing locally on the canvas. | You need non-AI composition cleanup. |
| Upscale | Creates a higher-resolution version using a selected upscale model and scale. | You need sharper output for larger placement or final delivery. |
Cleanup Actions
| Action | What it does | Use it when |
|---|
| Remove Background | Isolates the foreground and updates the selected image. | You need a transparent product, subject, or object cutout. |
| Set Background | Applies color, gradient, image, searched background, curated texture, AI background, or blur background. | You need a studio, lifestyle, brand, or marketplace background. |
| Eraser | Uses a painted mask to remove unwanted content. | You need to clean a specific object or area. |
| Adjust Colors | Applies local color and opacity adjustments. | You need quick finishing without a new AI render. |
| Remove Watermark | Removes watermark-like artifacts from permitted assets. | You own the asset or have permission to modify it. |
Conversion Actions
| Action | What it does | Use it when |
|---|
| Extract Prompt | Describes the selected image as a reusable prompt. | You want to recreate, remix, or document a visual direction. |
| Vector | Converts suitable artwork into a vectorized output. | You need scalable logo-like, icon-like, or flat graphic output. |
Output Behavior
| Behavior | Actions |
|---|
| Updates the selected image | Remove Background, Eraser, Remove Watermark, local appearance controls. |
| Creates a new image beside the source | Chat Edit, Visual Annotation Edit, Edit Design Text, Remix, Variations, Multi-angle, Expand, Upscale, Vector. |
| Creates editable structure beside the source | Make Editable, Magic Layers / Edit Element. |
| Creates or updates a background group | Set Background with local color, gradient, or image backgrounds. |
| Produces prompt text | Extract Prompt. |
Model And Credit Notes
AI actions can require login, credits, and a compatible model. Local actions such as Crop and Adjust Colors do not need a generation run. Model lists may change as Studio adds or removes model support, so use the model picker in the action panel as the source of truth.
When a result matters for production, generate beside the original first, compare quality, and only then remove unused versions from the canvas.
