Nano Banana (Figma / FigJam Plugin)
Overview
Nano Banana is Codia's official Figma / FigJam plugin that bundles three AI-image actions — explore, generate, and convert — into one panel. Browse an inspiration feed, generate new images from prompts, and drop them onto the canvas as flat images or as fully editable Figma layers.
Use Cases
- Find inspiration and references before starting a new design
- Fill FigJam boards with illustrations, icons, and mood imagery
- Generate covers, banners, or avatars and insert them into Figma
- Turn AI-generated posters into editable Figma layers for further work
Installation
- Figma Plugins → Find more plugins (also searchable inside FigJam)
- Search Codia AI: Nano Banana
- Click Run and sign in with your Codia account
Features
The plugin has three tabs at the bottom:
1. Explore
- Browse a curated AI-image waterfall with a top search bar
- Tap an image to see details and insert into Figma
- For poster / UI-style images, optionally convert to editable design (layers, text, shapes broken out)
- Insertion auto-picks an appropriate resolution to avoid bloating the canvas
2. AI Generate
- Text-to-image generation with multiple aspect ratios and style presets
- History is kept in the gallery — reuse the same image multiple times
- Generated results can also be converted to editable Figma layers
3. My Creations
A single place to review everything you've generated or interacted with, so earlier assets are easy to reuse.
Quota
- Generation and conversion counts share your Codia AI account quota
- Free accounts have daily / monthly caps; Pro lifts them significantly
- The panel surfaces an upgrade modal when you hit the cap
Best Practices
- Prompt in English — current models respond better to English prompts
- Explore before generating — a keyword search often finds something ready to use
- Great for FigJam brainstorming — drop quick mood images onto the board
- Lock the resolution for hero elements — switch to the high-res version before inserting
FAQ
Generation fails or is slow
Check network access — the plugin manifest needs allowedDomains: *. The service may queue during peak hours.
Inserted images look blurry
Explore uses thumbnails by default. Click insert full-size or convert to design to grab the original resolution.
Does it work in both Figma and FigJam?
Yes. The manifest declares both figma and figjam as editorType.
How is "convert to design" different from Screenshot to Design?
Nano Banana runs its own generated / curated images through the image-to-design pipeline. For arbitrary screenshots, use Screenshot to Design.
